Fixing and Installing Adobe Shockwave Player on Windows

Shockwave Player is a free plugin that allows you to play multimedia content such as movies, games, and animations.

Disable third-party antivirus programs

1. First, open the Windows Security app as mentioned for the first resolution.
   
2. Click Virus & threat protection to open its window shown directly below.
3. Then, click the Virus & threat protection settings button.
4. Click the Virus & threat protection settings button.
5. Click the Virus & threat protection settings button.
6. Click the Advanced tab, and select the Exclusions option.
7. Then, enter the full path to the ShockwavePlayer.exe file in the Enter a path or select one from the file list box.
   
8. Select the Allow option.

Disable Windows Defender Firewall

1. Open Windows Search and type Windows Defender Firewall.
2. Click on Windows Defender Firewall to open that Control Panel applet.
   
3. Click Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off to open that Utility.
4. Click the Allow a program or feature through Windows Defender Firewall radio button.
5. Click Add to open the window in the snapshot directly below.
6. Click Browse to open the window in the snapshot directly below.
7. Click Shockwave Player to select that program.
8. Click the OK button after selecting Shockwave Player.
   
9. Close the Windows Defender Firewall window.
10. Disable Windows Defender Antivirus
    
11. Close all running Adobe Shockwave Player applications.
12. Open the Windows Search menu, type Windows Defender Antivirus, and click the relevant search result.
13. Click Windows Defender Antivirus to open the Windows Defender Antivirus Utility.
14. Next, press the Open Windows Defender Firewall settings button.
15. Then press the Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off button.
16. Click the Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off button.
17. Press the Turn off Windows Defender Firewall option.
    
18. Press the OK button.
    
19. Now, press the Turn off real-time protection option.
20. Press the OK button.
    
21. Press the Start button.
22. Open the Windows Search menu, type Adobe, and click the relevant search result.
23. Click Adobe to open the Adobe website.
24. Click the Download button.
25. Select the Shockwave Player option.
    
26. Click the Download button.
27. Click the Run button to begin installing Adobe Shockwave Player.
    

Update Windows 10

1. Open the Settings app from the Windows Search bar.
2. Head over to the Updates & Security section.
3. Click on the Check for updates button.
4. Download and install all available updates.
   

Disable Windows Defender SmartScreen

1. Open Settings and select Update & Security.
2. Now click on Windows Security on the left.
   
3. Select Virus & threat protection.
4. Go to Scan options on the right and click on Additional settings.
5. Finally, check the box for Don’t show again.

Install Shockwave Player manually

1. Download Shockwave Player 11.6.9.261.exe and save it on your computer.
2. Now, go to Adobe’s download page and navigate to the Shockwave Player section.
3. Click on the “Download” button.
4. Once the download is complete, run Adobe Shockwave Player Setup and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
