10 Reasons You Should Buy Google Pixel or Pixel XL Phone

2

On October 4th, Google launched its most awaited Pixel smartphones in San Francisco, United States. Finally, Google dropped the Nexus lineup phones and released Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL with its own branding. The Nexus devices are built in cooperation with different partners. We’ve formerly seen Nexus devices of various manufacturers like Samsung, Asus, HTC, LG and Huawei, and these devices also carry the partner name as well as the Nexus branding. But, Pixel is totally different. The new Pixel phones are purely made by Google but the OEM is HTC. That’s why it looks something like current HTC phones.

These two flagship phones are one of the best choices available on the market to buy. In September, Apple has launched its two flagship phones; iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The Google Pixel is the direct competition towards the iPhone and Samsung phones.

In the middle of the year, I thought to buy a Nexus phone, because I am a tech blogger and I should be updated regarding Hardware and Software. Nothing is better in terms of software updates like Nexus series. At that time the rumors are spreading on the Internet regarding the new phone by Google, and finally, I decided to wait for the next phone.

Why You should buy a Google Pixel or Pixel XL

You Should Buy Google Pixel or Pixel XL Phone
Finally, I got my phone and writing the reasons why you should consider purchasing a Pixel phone. If you are planning to buy a new premium Android phone, then you should read these points before making your decision. These are the 10 best points I like on my Google Pixel XL.

1#. Comes with Android 7.1 Nougat

This is the main reason behind buying a Google phone. This is the only phone available on the planet which will get the Android update first. Earlier, I was using a SONY phone, and it takes at least six months to get a new Android update. But the Google Pixel phones come with preloaded stock Android Nougat 7.1. That means, no bloatware and pure Android experience.

2#. The New Pixel Launcher

Say goodbye to the Google Now launcher and say hello to the brand new Pixel launcher. The another thing you should consider is the stock launcher app. The Nexus devices were coming with Google Now Launcher, but it is totally different. The app drawer icon is gone, and you need to swipe up from the bottom to open the app drawer. The app drawer has been revamped with round icons and home screen shortcuts.

You can’t say it as a 3D touch what Apple offers in the iPhone 7, but it acts like this when you long press the preinstalled Google apps. It shows extra options, and you can even drag these extra options as a shortcut. It is one of the fastest launchers I have ever used on any Android device.

3#. Snapdragon 821 Processor and 4 GB RAM

The Pixel and Pixel XL are the first well-known handsets to feature the latest cutting-edge chip Snapdragon 821 with a 4GB of RAM. The processor is 10 percent faster than the previous one. The GPU speed is also marginally faster, while the chip also offers incremental upgrades in effectiveness. Multitasking on these two phone would be awesome.

4#. The Virtual Assistant: Google Assistant

Arguably the best thing about these phones is Google Assistant. This is not an external application – it comes inbuilt in Pixel phones, and you can easily access it from any screen by saying “OK Google”. If you want to try this amazing feature, then it is available in the Google’s instant messaging app Allo. As I tested, it is more talkative and works better than Apple’s Siri and Microsoft’s Cortana.

You can ask her for general information like time, weather, etc. as well controls the applications over voice. Personally, I love Google Assistant and also love the way she says. It is the best virtual assistant out there.

5#. Best Camera Ever

DXOMark is a camera quality measurement company has given the rear camera of the both Google pixel devices a score of 89, which is the highest score it has ever given to a smartphone. Both Pixel smartphones have a 12.3 MP rear camera with LED flash powered by Sony IMX378 sensing unit, f/2.0 aperture, and a bigger 1.55 um lens and 8MP front camera powered by Sony IMX179 sensing unit.

I have tested the camera and found some amazing results in the daylight. It is a little bit noisy in the low light situations because of the lack of OIS, but the images are sharper and brighter than other phones in the smartphone industry. The electronic optical image stabilization works flawlessly while shooting 4K videos.

6#. Google Support

Apple offers great support for its iPhones and Google is trying to replicate that with the new Pixel devices. The support tab is available on the Settings page of the smartphone which let you chat or call to the Google representative for help. You can even share your screen with the support team to make them understand better regarding your problems. I think, this is an amazing feature for Pixel owners. You also get many tips and tricks about your phone on the support page.

7#. Unlimited Photos and Videos Backup

Pixel’s camera produces incredibly great photos and videos. So you need more storage to store your memories. But, you don’t need to worry about that; as Google offers unlimited photos and videos in original quality. You can store as much as you can using the Photos app to your Google drive without any compression.

8#. Smart Storage

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL come in two variants; 32GB and 128GB. And there is no option to expand the storage. If you are planning to pick up the 32GB version, then you are going to out of space after few months. To handle this situation the smart storage feature comes into action. It automatically removes the photos and videos which are already uploaded to the cloud storage. It also allows you to manually remove media as well as apps from your phone to free up space.

9#. Daydream VR

Google’s new phones are designed to run harmoniously with the new Daydream VR platform. Google has also made a VR headset at just $79 to work on these handsets perfectly. This is not available worldwide this time, but will available soon.

As like other VR headsets, you just slot your device in the VR headset, and you are ready to go. If you’re serious about Pixel for the VR experience, then you should go with the XL model with its higher resolution.

10#. USB Type-C and Fast Charging

Pixel is backed by a 2770 mAh battery and Pixel XL is supported by a 3450 mAh battery. The XL performs better in the day to day usage, and both of these devices offers Type-C with fast charging capabilities.

These are the 10 best features I like on my Google Pixel XL. If you are planning to buy an Android phone with future-proof features and price is not a concern for you then this is the best smartphone for you. If you have any questions regarding the Pixel device, then feel free to comment below.
