Schedule PC Shutdown Windows 10: Easy Methods to Fix

Windows 10 comes with a simple Schedule PC shutdown feature that can help you get your PC to shut down at a specified time.
However, this feature doesn’t always work as expected, and users have reported a number of issues with the Schedule PC shutdown feature.

Modify the Shutdown schedule

1. To ensure that your PC shuts down at the desired time, double-click the Start icon on the taskbar and select Settings.
2. Click System and select Power & sleep.
   
3. Next, select the Change advanced power settings.
4. Click Change plan settings next to the specified power plan.
5. Click the Change advanced settings link.
6. Click Change advanced power settings on the System Properties window.
7. Click the Change settings that are currently unavailable.
8. Select the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option.
9. Select the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option.
10. Click the OK button.
11. Click the Save changes button.
    
12. Look for the Turn on fast startup (recommended) option in the list of options.
13. Click the OK button.
14. Click the OK button.

Run Windows Updates

1. Click Start, type Windows Update, and then click on Windows Update.
   
2. Click Check for updates, and then click on Install updates automatically.
3. Once updates are downloaded, restart the system.
4. Check if the issue persists.
5. Run Disk Cleanup
   Open Start, type Disk Cleanup, and then click on Disk Cleanup.
6. Click Clean up system files, and then click on OK.
   
7. Wait for the process to complete, and then restart Windows.

Delete a problematic .INI file

1. Press Windows + R to open Run, enter explorer, and click OK.
2. In the window that opens, navigate to the following path: Windows > System32 > config
   
3. Locate and delete the .INI file named shutdown.
4. Reboot your computer.

Turn off Automatic Updates

1. Launch the Control Panel and go to Update and Security.
2. Select View update history.
3. Right-click the Update you want to disable and select Uninstall updates.
   
4. Click Uninstall.
