System requirements vary for each laptop, and if you’re having problems with your computer’s buttons, don’t freak out.

- If your laptop buttons are not responding, it might be due to hardware problems.
- In order to fix this issue, you may need to update the drivers.
Check if the laptop is plugged in
- Sometimes, the problem with your laptop buttons not working is caused by the laptop not being plugged in. Run the power test on the laptop and see if the buttons are responding. If the buttons are responding, unplug the laptop and plug it back in.
- Check the power settings
Sometimes, the laptops power settings are not compatible with Windows, and this could interfere with the buttons. Check the power settings on the laptop and make sure it is configured for Windows 10. - Check if the wireless mouse is connected
Sometimes, if you connect a wireless mouse, this could cause the buttons not to work. Try connecting the wired mouse and check if the laptop button issue is solved.
Rename the .LCK file
- Press “Windows” + “R” keys.
- Type “Notepad” and then press “Enter”.
- Scroll down and paste “C:WindowsSystem32DriverStore32Lck.exe” in the address bar.
- Highlight the file and then rename the file to “Lck.exe.bak”.
- Disable UAC
Launch “Run” by typing “Run” in the Cortana search box. - Type “UacDisable” in the “Run” dialog box and then press “Enter”.
- UAC will be disabled.
- Rename the LCK File
Press the “Windows” key + “R” keys. - Type “Notepad” and then press “Enter”.
- Scroll down and paste “C:WindowsSystem32DriverStore32Lck.exe” in the address bar.
- Highlight the file and then rename the file to “Lck.exe.bak”.
Remove the battery
- Hold the power switch for 30 seconds. Then reinstall the battery.
- Reset the BIOS
Press the F2 button during the startup. Then, enter the BIOS setup and reset the BIOS to default. - Reset the Power Management
Press the F8 button during startup. Then, choose Advanced Startup. - Select the Troubleshoot option.
- Then, click the Power button.
- Choose the Restart button.
